Day of Giving originated at Elm Place Middle School in 2011 when students and staff came together to collect and donate food, clothing, toiletries and winter gear to help support families in the Highland Park / Highwood communities.
As schools unite for the 14th consecutive year the PTO has committed to raising $1500 for a bulk food purchase (200 boxes of instant rice & 400 boxes of mac ‘n cheese) to support this year’s initiative.
To be distributed on December 7, Day of Giving donations will provide 200 local families with the following:
- 2 Grocery Bags of Food
- 1 Bag of Personal Household Items (Toilet Paper, Toothpaste, etc.)
- 1 Basket of Winter Clothing & Toys
- Fleece Blanket
- Gift Card to Local Grocer
The Edgewood PTO is joining the following organizations in supporting this year's Day of Giving:
- Edgewood Reach for Change (Student Group)
- Northwood Gives Back (Student Group)
- D112 PTOs
- SaLT
- The Rotary Club of Highland Park/Highwood
- D112 Education Foundation
For those families looking for an alternative to making a monetary donation; collection bins for boxes of instant rice and/or mac 'n cheese will be placed outside the main office beginning Monday, November 11.
The deadline to show your support is Friday, November 22. Click the link below to make a donation now.
